Kitchen Make Over

We finally did it... we have a fancy schmancy polished able-to-seat-many kitchen/dining room.  Actually we have 2 kitchens here... no dining room.  The formal dining room was turned into a playroom within the first month that we moved.  But our house has come equipt with a gully kitchen and a "sun room."  In June terms: a front and middle kitchen.  It sounds plain regal to live with 2 kitchens and in a townhouse, I'm good with feeling regal, even just in term.

Our front kitchen is where our table is.  The middle kitchen is where the cooking happens.  This post focuses on the front kitchen. ::nods::

We always (very gratefully) had hand-me-down diningroom sets.  We had this in the first apartment:

But once June was mobile, those folding chairs and collapsable table were a death trap waiting to happen.

So we switched to this set from my parents:

Beautiful!  But a 4 seater... we are a family of 5, plus it had seen better days.

We finally bit the bullet and bought a farm house table, 3 chairs and 2 benches.  LOOOOOVE it!!

The problem was once this table was in the room, the rest of the room looked shabby. So.  DYI time!

I had a message area for cards and such that looked like this:

JoJo Designs Green Dragonfly Dreams Fabric Memo Board

Meh.  It worked but I was ready for change.  My friend, a certain Miss Erin, suggested doing a collage of sorts and I ran with it.  Below is my finished product: table and new message station!!

The beginning... 3 frames I already had... 1 from GoodWill... 1 Sick Cross that never found a home at our "new" place.

Corkboard from GoodWill

TaDaaaa!!! Paint, scissors, and a printer and a little elbow grease. Done!

The Table!

Now we need to invite someone over for dinner to utilize our new stuff! It's the little things...

Love it!!! You weren't kidding about diy!! I would have just bought the smaller corkboard and dry erase! Way to go, being all adventurous with your craftiness!! Does it do everything you wanted the space to do?? Looks like it does! Hope you like it!

Thank you!! It serves every purpose that I wanted. Actually, I didn't use the other cork board that I bought so I'm going to use that as my Christmas/Birthday card display. That's the only thing the new set-up can't handle, an influx of cards, but I have my bases covered for that too. :)

Thanks Christa. I love decor on the cheap. ;) This is the first place we've been able to actually decorate so I'm still soaking it all in and picking away little by little. :) I'll lend an eye anytime if you have a project in the making. ;)
