I'm used to being in the house, with the kids, most of the time. I don't get out much party because I'm a homebody and partly because of the kids. However, this weekend I got out 3 times without anyone else. FREEDOM!
It was actually nice. Jim's cousin Brittany is due with her 1st on March 1st so we celebrated her shower Saturday. Seeing all that new baby stuff makes me want to toss all mine and start fresh. :) She got a lot of goods, which is awesome. =) It was nice to talk to Jim's Aunts and enjoy the event. I'm very excited for Britt.
Then later that night, I went and got our taxes done. Usually, I do them myself and honestly, I'll probably go back to doing my own in future years but this year I just wanted to make sure we were doing everything right with my side "business" and such. We are... rock on.
Then today, I went to David's Bridal with Jess, Jimmy's fiance, to try on bridesmaid dresses with her party. It was nice. I am rarely (ok NEVER) around Jess without Jimmy, so it was a fun dynamic to be with "the girls." She picked out a really pretty dress for us. I approve. I think everyone is going to look awesome and I'm excited for her big day. Oh and score, I'm still a size 6. ::happy happy dance::
All these ventures don't have a lot to do with much (like that sentence?), but it was a break from the norm and pretty exciting all around (even taxes once they are successfully filed and the return comes in). I'm looking forward to hearing about Brittany and her new peanut, and gearing up for Jess & Jimmy's wedding. I'm trying to embrace the present too. The past is gone and you can't live for the future (though I think looking forward to it is different). The present is all you can really focus on or control. Everything happens for a reason, I really believe that, so whatever your "present" is... run with it, enjoy it, and learn from it.
It's all you've got. I had a lot of pleasant presents lately. I'm thankful. God is good.

Like this one, too :)
"I've had a lot of pleasant presents"... the reminder to be fully IN the "now". A reminder I need daily!
