Current Kid Update

Every so often I update about the kids and a comment Jim made tonight pulled me back to the fact that I haven't reflected on the kids for a while.

Jim made the comment that Josh is his current favorite.  Before you get your panties in a bunch let me say this:  I don't think we will ever ever have die hard favorites, but with kids and their stages... there always seems to be one kid that appeals to each of us at any given time (and 2 others who are driving us crazy).  There was a point where Jim couldn't stand Josh, yet I was LOVING the phase he was in.  It happens.

So anyway here is my recap of local kid stages and phases.

June (5)

June is in a tough stint.  He's sensitive yet angry and attitude-y.  He is thriving on attention and 1-on-1 time which is nearly impossible to give.  This parasitic leach.. er wonderful child growing inside me.. has me searching for sleep at EVERY turn.  I sleep while the kids play around me. I sleep while the kids sleep.  It's ridonkulous.  So June has gotten little mommy time and I think it's showing itself in his moods.

If I can step beyond his current negative phase I will say that 5 is a good age.  He's so darn big.  He can do so much independently and is a complete sweet heart.  Today he woke me from a (like 5th) nap and asked me to see something on the computer.  He had been playing a game (so nicely all by himself because he rocks) and he showed me a sentence that he strung together in his game.  It said "Will you be my valentine - because - you are kind."  Then he gave me the biggest smile and hug.  He's the sweetest kid.  He's a gentle soul with a temper.  I swear any anger come from him being hurt though.  What a sweet boy.

Josh (3.5)

Josh is such a charmer.  He could melt your heart in an instant.  Josh has recently mellowed (PRAISE the Lord).  He's crying less (if you know Josh, you know what a feat that is) and is just meshing into the family so much better lately.  He's a sweet one too but not sappy sweet.  Josh always has a glimmer in his eye and will play so well by himself.  He's an imaginative play-er.  He has his super hero action figures go on all kinds of adventures.  He's still allergic to milk and wheat but I've been trying a few things here and there and I suspect the milk allergy is waning.  I think he has wheat in full gear though.  He's good about understanding.. really good.  I wouldn't be happy if I was constantly told "no" about EVERY snack I wanted.  He's good about knowing that he gets Joshy food and that I will always have that for him.  I think 3.5 to 4 is going to be a good phase for Josh.... he's cute and irresistible. :)

Elizabeth (22mo)

Oh miss Eliz.  What a helper.  I love experiencing having a girl.  She walks around her bunny and cares for him.  Every day after nap, while I cook dinner, she pulls over her chair and will watch me cook.  She knows it's hot and has never tired to touch anything.  She's very observant and mellow.  I've noticed when we are out at parks or somewhere new, the boys will run and play and she'll almost hang by me as my buddy.  She's not shy (in the LEAST) but she's not a go getter either.  She's content to be by those she loves.  On the flip side, she's not clingy at home.  She plays so well alone or with Josh.  Those 2 are often palling around together.  Elizabeth is ... wonderful.  I'm so enjoying raising her.  She's not perfect but I think 1. She's a girl and they are more lax toddlers and 2. she's my 3rd so she falls into a groove better bc the boys already laid the foundation.

So that's the kids right now.  I need to start prepping for her 2nd birthday. WOW.  And as for baby2012,  all is well.  I feel absolutely drained but I'm pretty certain that means that the baby is doing wonderfully.  I have my 12 (!) week appointment next week and the clock keeps (thankfully) ticking.  7 more weeks until I feel like myself again... I think I can, I think I can. ;)

Later skaters...

Over and out.
