The Tooth Fairy left a note as well as a gold dollar (and June's tooth). He was thrilled. He since has shown anyone and everyone his tooth and loot. I plan to buy a little bag for him to collect his Tooth Fairy coins. Hopefully the next tooth lost is perfectly healthy, front baby tooth.

That morning, the dental hygienist called to see how my little patient was doing. I told her about the continued swelling and the pain that he was experiencing. He needed a constant stream of pain meds or he was in a world of hurt. They were uneasy with that report and sent us to an appointment with an oral surgeon. We trekked over to a very-quickly-scheduled appointment that morning and again on Friday morning to check June's progress. By Friday the surgeon was happy with the decrease of swelling and the, thankfully, better pain situation so we avoided having to drain the infected area. If the swelling was still bad, they would cut in and drain the pocket of fluid. We will check back with the surgeon tomorrow morning just to make sure that there are no remaining pockets of fluid but all is well. I think June is fully on the mend. I hope that is the only pulled tooth we have to deal with, at least for a very long time. Geesh!
It was an intense week. Tuesday was so hard with the crowns and the extraction. Wednesday through Friday June was in a good deal of pain and had a surgical procedure looming, but alls well that ends well. I am not looking forward to the bills to roll in from this week, but at least there wasn't a resistant infection or any scary turns for June. Phew. The swelling still needs to reduce the last little bit and the pain comes back, especially if the cheek is bumped, but my little trooper is doing well.
