Sunday = Beach

Three years ago we started the tradition of  going to the beach with my side of the family for the week.   I remember growing up and hearing the "would-a, should-a, could-a" of planned-but-never-carried-out vacations with my grandparents, aunts, and uncles.  It always sounded like so much fun... beach house, family, cousins, and fun.  It never happened.  My mom would reminisce about how much fun it would have been and how they should have executed this allusive family vacation.

Three years ago my mom took matters into her own hands as the new matriarch of our family.   Our family shifted from my grandparents being our extended family to her, my dad, and my brothers being the extended family.  With the birth of my 3rd child and the family dynamic switcheroo came the institution of family beach vacation.

Each year we head to the beach and spend 4-5 days enjoying the calm that the ocean brings.  We leave Sunday and the kids are thrilled.  We could all use some relaxation and a change of scenery.  We wait all year for this week!!  I need to get moving on planning and packing, but I'll leave you with a look back at the last few beach years. :)
