Sewage , Lot of Babies, & Christmas

The last few weeks have been normal, yet interesting.

3 weeks ago, we came home on a Sunday evening to find our french drain had backed up and raw sewage was occupying the corner of our basement.  Thankfully, there wasn't anything worth while ruined, but since this was the second time this happened and the damage was worse this time, we decided to call insurance.  Over the course of the next weeks there were phone called exchanged, 2 insurance adjuster visits (From David... he's a good guy.), and lots and lots of clean up.  Bleach was my friend.

David ended up finding that the bar needed to be replaced, the a joining wall fixed, and the floor replaced.  I also called Roto Rooter, but they don't want to come out until there is another acute blockage.  Drain-O fixed this one, but I am guessing there are tree roots or something else where things are getting stuck, but for the time being we are just kind of sitting on a ticking time bomb.  I did stop using any type of wipes in the plumbing, so hopefully a future clog will be avoided all together.  Time will tell.

We did rip down the bar so we could properly clean up the mess, and we've been looking at flooring samples.  Nothing else has been done yet.  I'm pretty thrilled to get a new floor, though with different things needed to be paid off and money needed to be set aside for a plumber, I am not holding my breath.  I'll believe the new floor when I see it.

The better news is BABIES!!! Babies, babies are everywhere.  My newest Godson, Christopher was born last Friday, the 15th to Kathleen and Chris.  He joins big siblings TJ (8) and Brenna (3), who are also my Godchildren. :)  The other cool thing is that November 15th was my Grandmam's birthday.  That's a pretty special date and now a special little man shares it.  Welcome little mister Christopher!!

Theeeeeen, two nights ago Jim and I got a call from his college friend, TJ and his wife Kara.  They asked if Jim and I would be the Godparents for their little 10 week old peanut, Noah.  :)  It's an amazing honor to be a Godmama and I still feel so flattered that they asked.  His baptism will likely be later this Winter.  I'm sure pictures will follow.  :)

AND, if that wasn't enough baby news, Jess and Jimmy are expecting little Zachary in only 2 weeks!! Becoming an Aunt is something totally new to me. :) I am looking forward to meeting Zack and seeing Jimmy and Jess become parents.  It's such a fun time when babies are coming into the world.  It's unique and fleeting, but it seems filled with a similar magic that comes with Christmas.  Normal life is suspended and there is a wonder the enters with that tiny little life.

Speaking of Christmas, I am done Christmas shopping except for 3 gifts!  I'm pretty proud of myself.  I sold things on ebay, hoarded my babysitting money, and maneuvered some extra funds from credit card rewards and Swagbucks to afford Christmas.  I was pretty successful too.  When I looked at the amount of money I would need to complete Christmas, it felt staggering.  I slowly purchased gifts and am almost done!! I have one gift I just can't decide on and the other 2,  I won't know until Thanksgiving when we pick Secret Santa names.  We also need to purchase gifts for the boys, but I won't worry about that until close to Christmas.  Jim wants to go out right before the 25th and buy for them (so I don't really consider them on my list anyway.  Jim says I buy dumb things for the boys so he is handling it).  The girls are done though.

So that's the latest, sewage, babies and Christmas gift buying. ;)  June also got his report card and I had his parent-teacher conference this week, but that will be another post.  :)

Until next time!
