I stumbled upon this article a few weeks ago and it popped up again in my news feed. Often these posts have a sprinkling of Susie-truth to them, but the rest of it makes me roll my eyes. Not this one. It's pretty good. You should read it. Well, if you want to, but you probably have some interest in big families if you read my blog, so click the link and skim the goods.

I like this quote a lot:
"Being able to “afford” children is relative. I can’t afford a flashy car, but I can afford six kids. There are people with flashy cars who can’t afford another child. Whatever turns your crank."
I've often struggled with a small voice in the back of my head that says "Well, Susie, if you can't afford fancy vacations or a fantastic car, can you really afford another LIFE?" To myself I say, "Yes, ma'am." Jim often says you follow your "master." For some people that's success.... for others it's money/possessions... for others it's God and their faith... I'm sure the list goes on, but I love that she threw that quote in there. It simply spells out what has baffled me for years.
Another gem is this:
"One of the reasons they're nice is because it is difficult to spoil them."
Even with "only" 4, I can't spoil my kids... I just can't. There isn't the time and resources to do so.
There are several other lines I would love to quote, but the article really isn't that long so it's worth it to just read it. Good stuff.
