2015... not a bad start

Long story short:  Jim got a new job.  Locally.  11 miles from home.  (He has been commuting an hour each way for 7 years)

Jim has been wanting a new job for a year or two and started actively applying and searching maybe 9 or so months ago.  This Fall he started getting a few phone interviews and they all led to a dead end.  Finally, all the pieces fell into place.  Perfectly.  I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't lived it.

One Monday morning Jim got a call and was asked to go into an interview on that Wednesday.  By Friday of that week he had completed two interviews and had a job offer in the works.  He had verbal confirmation that the job was his.  Wow.  Another week went buy and the formal job offer arrived.  He gave his two week notice that day and started work at his new company this week.  Amazing.  Seriously amazing.

This job is still engineering, but is a totally different field and type.  The job is so much closer to home.  Jim's commute is 11 miles instead of 55.  The hours are nice (he should be home for dinner nightly) and the stress from his prior job is gone.  There was a small pay bump and it looks like our benefits will be much better than what we had before.  What a Godsend.  This new job feels so surreal and wonderful.

So awesome.  I posted about wondering what 2015 held and so far so good.  This is such a huge blessing and an amazing new beginning for us.  The rest of the year might not continue as smoothly, but even if this is the best thing that happens in 2015, I'm good with that.  This was much needed and so very appreciated.  Yay for positive change.

Oh yay!!! That's SO awesome that his commute is going to be reduced - I know the quality of our marriage has improved GREATLY every time we've managed to move closer to my husband's job :)
