Summer 2020 - Week 5

We are still in the green phase and apparently, our cases of Corona aren't increasing, however, the quarantine feelings are increasing.  I don't know if that's because we've done much/all of the outdoor events several times and are getting bored of the same old things? Or because school decisions are on the horizon and that pulls with so much weight of quarantine and things just not being normal?  Or just hitting mid-summer lull?

Along with feelings of quaretine rearing their head, feelings of parental frustration and failure are too, haha.  I always think my feelings are unique.  I feel like my children have never been this misbehaved and I'm doing something drastically wrong.  At this point of summer, those feelings were coming in... thennnnn I looked at my social media "memories" from other years and::surprise:: this time of year is always met with exasperated social media posts about fighting siblings and general unrest.  This year, counting up our summer weeks for the first time, I realize that this is smack in the middle of summer as well, which makes sense for there to be a rut.

This week, however, had a light at the end of the tunnel: beach vacation.  We just had to make it to Friday!!!

Monday we snagged spots at the pool.  This was Heaven.  To be at a pool with all the kids felt so normal!

A good time was had by all.  June and Josh pretty much stay on the diving board and in the deep end.  Elizabeth swims with them or does her own thing in 4 feet.  Emily and Annie swim together in 3 feet. Emily can swim well so she meanders between Elizabeth and Annie at times.  Regardless, there is something for everyone.

Tuesday - Nada.  We prepped for vacation and stayed in.  I hit 26 weeks though!!

Wednesday - My Aunt and my mom came over armed with tie-dye supplies.  It ended up being really enjoyable.  The kids tie-dyed and then went in to relax while the rest of us got to talk ad catch up.

Thursday - Thursday was pure packing, cleaning, vacation prep, and laundry.  Nothing exciting, but definitely necessary.

Friday - We were OFF!! We woke up, finished packing and loading the car, and set off to our week away!

Rest stop for gas and potty breaks!

We made it! Time for lunch!!

A little exploring and then a pre-dinner trip to the beach!

We will be here for 8 days and plan to soak in each and every one...
