May 2: 2 days ago I turned THIRTY

This is an experiment.  I want to try turning my blog into a journal over the next month.  I miss a lot of little "stuff" that I think would be fun to reference and have saved. So I'm going to jot down what happens, hopefully every day, during the month of May.

I'm off to a fantastic start considering I missed May 1st.

First off, this week I turned 30.  THIRTY.  It's a very mixed bag of feelings turning 30.  Part of me feels like I am the baby of my life.  I socialize with other parents and often I am the youngest of those around me.  I'm the baby.  Yet, I usually have the most children, HA.  :)  So turning 30 still feels very much "young" to me.  I'm finally a respectable age to have 4 kids, yet still on the younger side.

On the other hand, I am no longer in my twenties so leaving them behind makes me feel old.  I've been in my twenties for the last ten years (duh) and it's weird closing that chapter.

My twenties brought me moving away from home and off to college.

I got engaged in my twenties.

I passed the remainder of my figure skating tests, in my twenties.

I got married in my twenties.

God blessed Jim and I with children at ages 23, 25, 27, and 29.

Elizabeth (July 10)

Emily (Dec 12)

We even had financial milestones like buying our first new car, house, and van (!) in our twenties. My twenties were full of firsts.  They were CHALK full of growth in many many ways.

What the heck can thirty do to compare?  My twenties were eventful and a mixed bag of fun and stress and growth.  Do I just get to keep aging in my thirties?  What new could possibly come?  Oh, I so know I am asking for God to smack me in the face with a comment like that.  But really, what is next?  All I can think is "How many kids will I have between 30 and 40?"  Maybe we will get our "forever" house this decade and we will experience more and more as parents.

So anyway,  I'm a year older.  I wasn't thrilled for this birthday and the actual day of my birthday was quite bothersome.  Ask Jim, I was in rare form when he came home that night.  But yeah, I'm 30 and there is nothing I can do about it. :P

Time will tell what the next 10 years holds.  If it's anything like the last 10, it will be eventful! :)

Me and Progress

Baby weight... it's gotta be the most fun part of brining life into the world.  You grow that tiny being for 40 weeks, sacrificing much to do so.  You go on to having that life pulled out of you at a whopping 6-8 pounds and then you are left to not only care for that helpless little wonder but you're also left with 20-30 EXTRA pounds of flab that you have to work your patootie off to lose, or get really good at covering up.

Fun times.

So here I am AGAIN! 3 kids in 4 years is insane in the day to day, but beyond that I feel like a human yoyo... up 40 lbs, down 40 lbs, up 40 lbs, down 40 lbs. Oy!

I'm not going to go in depth about my weight but I do need the extra motivation so I'm keeping myself accountable by putting it here.

So, world, as of today I have 8 lbs to lose.  I've ::pats self on back:: lost 6 since mid December, but I have to keep movin' if I want the rest off!  So there you go, 8 to go... ::musters up motivation::
