Reel Big Fish

Reel Big Fish is a band that Jim and I have liked for years.  I always thought their music was "fun" and Jim liked them before me so it just worked. Common interest. We saw them in concert twice and they ROCK live.  Seriously, some performers can perform... they can.  Both shows were amazing.

In recent times the boys discovered their music and June can sing along to 5 or 6 songs already.  Josh knows 2 or 3.  They fell for Reel Big Fish when they heard "Beer."

What is that I hear you saying? "This is a stuffy Catholic blog?  What business do my children have listening to a song by a ska band called 'Beer?'"  "That's not an appropriate song."   Weeeeellll...

::sticks out tongue::

I'm not all that meets the eye... and yes, this is my kids' favorite song:

See... fun!!

I told you!

And I guarantee that if you dared to play it with your kids around (if you have any) they will dance and they will also have no idea that he's saying "beer" or the connotation of the song. At least not yet.

Anyway, back to my post.  Because the kids love RBF now, I've been listening to them more and tonight "Take On Me" came on and there is a line that says "Slowly learning that life is ok."

YES!

Thank you, Reel Big Fish.  I've been feeling that way other the last week or so.  After I stumbled onto those Little Catholic Bubble posts I've felt a weight lifted and a realization that the decisions I make only directly impact me and my family.  Others may feel a certain way but as far as the day to day life... I need to live for the 5 of us in this house.  "Slowly learning that life is ok" helped me put that further into perspective.

Life is now.  Life is this moment.  Life is life.

Enjoy it.  It's not so bad and the bad stuff passes.  Do the best you can and hang on for the ride.  Because honestly, we are all living and life is indeed ok.  If it's not, change something.  Otherwise, you are golden. =)

It's a peaceful feeling to know that things are turning out ok.  They just are.  Not perfect, not relaxing, often frustrating and taxing, but ok.  Really really ok. :)  I wouldn't change a thing.  Not one.
