This morning started with the boys taking my iPhone, which meant I missed my alarm and woke up late (yes, they get up before me... it's the beauty of "older" kids). So... I woke up about 45 minutes later than I should have. No shower. Quickly get ready. Boys dressed. Quick car-breakfasts made. Eliz up and dressed. Bag packed. I grabbed a water and a nutrigrain bar for me and I was in the car and ready to go.
That was 9:30.
10:00am: Arrive at pediatrician's to drop off June's physical form bc I'm a moron and didn't realize I should have probably brought it the day before at his 5 year well-check. Bah. Kid out of the car... drop off form... kids into car.
10:20am: Arrive at park and meet my friend Mary and her littles to play. *This* was one of the awesome times of the day. I heart Mary and it had been a while since we got together. The kids play so well together so it was an enjoyable (albeit chilly and windy) morning.
Noon: Leaving the park Elizabeth decided to drop herself to the ground while I was holding her hand. Resulting in a bigger tantrum and possible arm pain.
12:20: Arrive at my inlaws to get a book for Jim. Maureen asks to take June for the afternoon. Sure! :)
1:00: Fed 2 little ones in the car... arrive home. Eliz is in obvious pain. She's not using her arm and will screech if you touch her fingers, arm, or shoulder. Picking her up was pure torture for the poor thing.
1:15: Decide to put her down for a nap. Even if something *is* wrong with her arm, going to a Dr or ER on NO nap is not a good idea.
2:00 Put Josh down for nap/
--I was able to eat lunch, clean up, and watch one episode of Army Wives in this time. Silent naptime without June home is wonderful. Of course, on par with my day, it had to be THE most emotional and devastating Army Wives show yet. Even my down time was draining.--
3:30: Nap OVER. This is not normal. She naps until 4:30 daily. My poor peanut must be in pain. I assess her and she's completely NOT using her arm or hand at all. Not in the least and she's very very sensitive if you touch it. Josh is up now too.
3:45: Call the Dr. They want to see her. Oh, which actually isn't a bad thing bc June's form is ready and they need to re-do his BP anyway since it wasn't written on his chart yesterday.
3:50: I get Eliz and Josh in the car and head to Bethlehem.
4:30: Get to my inlaws to pick up June and drop off Josh. Another silver lining, I only had to take the 2 I needed for the Drs.
4:50: Arrive at Drs. Once the Dr came in, my favorite one!, she felt Eliz's arm and Eliz wailed. She felt her collar bone and shoulder. She felt down her arms and her wrist. Finally we decided to try to pop her elbow back in. If she's still in pain after that, the plan was to get it further looked at with x-rays, etc for something more serious (though her falling while holding my hand was the only injury-time so a bigger injury didn't seem as likely). Dr. C twisted Elizabeth's wrist and flexed her arm. She said she felt a pop (that's a good thing). Dr. C left the room and said that if it was Eliz's eblow then she would start using the arm again soon.
Sure enough, within minutes Eliz started using her arm. When Dr. C came back she blew bubbles and Eliz reached for all of them! YAY!!!
She had dislocated her elbow (nursemaid's elbow) and is not prone for it to happen again bc the ligaments are looser. Thankfully it was an easy fix.
6:00: We got back to my inlaw's and Maureen awesomely fed the kids dinner and we bathed them. Books were read and toys were played with. June attitude was in full force, but what are you gonna do?
8:00: We are home and Daddy greets us to help everyone in. Eliz has been pain free since the Dr's office and quiet evening time can start.
But let me tell you, I.am.wiped. Holy jeez, what a Wednesday!
