June will be spending the bulk of his time with Mrs. Bergman this year. His buddy by the street and at least one other student from his class has Bergman too, which will be nice. He starts full day school... first grade... on August 26th. He will be gone from 8:30 until 3:45 every day. EVERY. (Well, at least most.)
That's just weird.
He's scared. He doesn't like change or unknown. He apprehensive and would rather stay in the predictable now. Who lives like that?! ... Oh, wait. ::mirror:: Right. My epic downfall is just that. ::sigh::
All that said, he's going to love it. I know he will. Yes, the days are long. Yes, there will be new friends, but he ROCKED Kindergarten and will succeed in 1st grade too. My little June ice cube shall melt and integrate wonderfully into the classroom and have a great year. That's my hope, at least.
{I've explained that analogy, right? It's genius. Our old pediatrician said that June is an ice cube. He freezes up in new situations. Push him to open up or be social or engage and he will freeze more. Let him melt and he will loosen up and enjoy his surroundings. He'll be come the social happy June. It's on his time though... you have to wait for him to melt.}
melted.
We will take the school year slow. I offered to drive him the first day, which he wants. I am allowed to walk him to his class that day as well, which will help. He knows that he has to go on the bus the other days, but I'll be lax the first few weeks. He did the same thing last year. June will melt and thrive. He ultimately preferred the bus last year... he said when I drove him it made him nervous because he was use to coming on the bus. ::shrug::
The other thing on my mind is that I LOVED his Kindergarten teacher and so did he. LOVED her. I want to love this one too. I guess since I've stayed at home with June all this time, I feel like I want to super approve of whose care he is in when I'm not there. I'm not a super protective parent by any means (unless it comes to germs, I don't like them!), but I want him to be happy and learn and grow and enjoy and transform and thrive. So Miss Teacher has to be top notch for those things to happen. :P I'm sure she is wonderful and everything will be great. :)
In the meantime, we are enjoying the Summer before it slips away!! Another school year looms...
