20 week update, baby 5

Last Wednesday Jim and I went in for my Level II ultrasound, the standard 20 week anatomy check of baby.  It's the appointment I look forward to the most in pregnancy.  They going over every time aspect of your baby... all the organs, bones and spare parts are measured and recorded and then compared, in size, to your due date.

Our sweet, though wiggly, little one measured absolutely perfectly.  Everything was accounted for and no red flags were raised.  The tech kept telling us how unimpressive our baby was.  That's a very good thing at a high risk perinatal center.  :)  You don't want to impress the staff.  Boring and routine is good.

After about 45 minutes we got to the point where we could choose to find out the gender.  We didn't find out with June, Josh, or Elizabeth, but we did with Emily.  I wanted to know again.  It is fun both ways, but I wanted another chance to anticipate and know and form that bond with my baby.  Maybe someday we will go back to not finding out... it's very possible, but this time we wanted to know. :)

Baby flipped with it's bottom up right before the tech started looking for girly parts or boy bits.  Perfect position!!! Jim and I both anticipated it to be a boy.  My morning sickness confused me and typically, based on that, I have a pretty good guess.  Usually girls are harder for me to carry... my symptoms are more intense.  There were times in this pregnancy that I felt like things weren't terrible, and I'd think boy.  Then there were times when I felt like crawling into a hole in the ground and never returning, and I'd think girl.  Morning sickness eased up with at 12 weeks: boy!  Then it came back with vengeance at 13: girl.  The headaches are here but not nearly as bad and I had headaches with the boys too: confused.

So ultimately, I wasn't sure what to think but I was leaning toward boy because it will have been almost 6 years since my last baby boy and I'm ready to snuggle a little man.  I did have a dream a few days before the ultrasound that it was a girl.  Baby cooperated and we were able to unveil the mystery......

A sweet baby girl.  I was shocked to hear that.  A girl?  Another little pink bundle?  THREE in a ROW!?  My house will tip the scales towards the ladies very soon.  To think, there was a time I was a "boy mom."  There was a time I thought I would have all boys.  Wow, 3 girls.

This is a (creepy) 4D image of our little lady.

The kids are thrilled... the boys are content with being the only small male members.  June already told me that the next baby will be a boy because "You can't have FOUR girls in a row!"  Ha, we'll see.  I would love another boy, but God plans these things and I'm happy with what I get.  I can't wait to meet my little one.  I'm already attached to her.  These kids are hair raising and hair pulling, but they are such blessings too. <3 nbsp="" p="">

We need to launch into names because the slate is pretty clean.  Last pregnancy I liked Emily and I liked Grace, so we named her Emily Grace.  Back to the drawing board. :)

20 more weeks until we meet this little lady... bring on the pink!
