Organizing Challenge Week #1: Kitchen

For kicks and giggles I decided to follow a organizing challenge by A Bowl Full of Lemons.  My friend Rachel had followed this challenge in the Fall and her results were pretty amazing.  I love me some good solid organization so I figured, although I was happy with the state of my house (thank you, nesting), I would follow the challenge just for fun.

Week one was the kitchen: http://www.abowlfulloflemons.net/2013/01/home-organization-revisited-week-1-the-kitchen.html

Task #1 - Purge (if you don't need need it, toss it.  buh-bye!)

Task #2 - Figure out "stations" in order to organize cabinets (baking station, coffee station, mixing bowl station, etc)

Task #3 - Make it look pretty!

Here are my before and afters.

The kitchen as a whole
(It's a gally kitchen so there is just a small "walk way" between the 2 sides of the kitchen.  Some could consider it small.  I actually love it!)

Area above the sink:

Above the dishwasher:
I keep the majority of the stuff coming *out* of the dishwasher here for ease of putting away.

Next to the fridge:
Drinks go here since this area is between the kitchen sink and fridge.  Maximum liquid access.

Bottom cabinets:
Crockpot, pans, cutting boards (in back), measuring spoons (in stock pot), lids (behind pots)

Other bottom cabinets:
Small appliances: baking pans, tupper ware

Junk drawer:
I'm sure I could perfect this further but I can access everything and, although it looks a bit crazy, everything has a place.

Above the fridge:
Coffee makers, lunch boxes, & art supply box

Drawer:
Cleaning cloths and burp cloths

Silverware drawers:

More drawers:

I'm happy with the state of the kitchen.  There are a few more changes I want to make, but over all I'm pleased with week #1.  It helps that the kitchen is probably my favorite room in the house. :)  Wouldn't new counter tops work wonders? ::sigh:: I'll add it to my mental list of things to save for. :)

Week 2 of this challenge is the garage.  I guess I get a week off. :P No garage here!
